A new report offers more proof of consumers’ heightened interest in health and wellness post-pandemic. Findings outline industry revenue has surpassed 2019 totals by more than 13%. Global Wellness Industry Valued at $5.6 Trillion

A new report from the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) finds that the wellness industry has grown more than 64% since 2013. With $5.6 trillion in revenue in 2022, GWI expects the all-encompassing wellness industry to grow an additional 57% by 2027, reports Bloomberg. The GWI’s report defines the industry as “the active pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.” These sectors include personal care and beauty, healthy eating, nutrition, weight loss, physical activities, public health, hospitality, and more. Consumers in North America took the top spot for spending per capita at $5,108 per year.

PWHL Moves Into Chelsea Piers as Home Training Grounds

The New York Olympians of the inaugural Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) will call Chelsea Piers Connecticut home for on- and off-ice training, according to Club Solutions. The Olympians will use the rinks, newly installed private professional hockey locker and equipment rooms, and office space as well as the private fitness club and 360-team training facility for strength and conditioning and recovery. “Every day, we see thousands of aspiring young athletes walk through our doors, all with dreams of becoming high school, college, and professional athletes themselves,” said Greta Wagner, executive director of Chelsea Piers Connecticut and IHRSA Board member. “Having this exceptional professional women’s team here will serve as a powerful source of inspiration for all our competitive athletes and hockey enthusiasts.”

Life Time Launches MIORA Longevity Clinic

Earlier this week, IHRSA member Life Time opened its first MIORA Longevity and Performance clinic in Minneapolis. “The reality of today is our consumers are looking for solutions to look better, feel better, and perform better,” said Life Time President Jeff Zwiefel. He tells Twin Cities Business the addition of MIORA makes Life Time a “one-stop shop.” With offerings ranging from metabolic coding, blood work, red light therapy, cryotherapy, GLP-1 treatments, urgent care, and more, the clinic aims to help people live longer and address health issues before they happen.

Virtual Reality Workout Platform Launches Highly Anticipated Zumba Studio

FitXr, a virtual reality workout platform, launched an immersive Zumba Studio featuring three popular instructors. New Zumba classes will drop each quarter and include four levels to cater to dancers of all experiences, reports Club Industry. On forming the partnership with IHRSA member Zumba Fitness, FitXR Director of Content Strategy & Programming Kelly Cosentino said, “Our number one goal was to introduce features and bring on instructors that cultivate a supportive atmosphere, enabling users to feel confident and motivated.”

Pure Barre Closes Out Another Pure Give Campaign

To celebrate National Gratitude Month in November, Pure Barre once again launched its annual Pure Give campaign and partnered with Feeding America on a virtual food drive. Cheri Tennill, chief marketing officer of Pure Barre, said, “Hunger continues to be a struggle families face in our communities, with an astonishing 49 million people having relied on food assistance last year.” Pure Barre staff and members came through to raise more than $4,800, providing at least 48,000 meals to individuals and families in need.
