VANCOUVER, WA—March 13, 2019—As the next chapter of the company’s strategic plan, Core Health & Fitness has increased its share of the fitness equipment business by deepening its position in the functional fitness business thru the licensing of Throwdown, LLC’s weights, plates, dumbbells and racks distribution. This new business for Core will advance the fitness manufacturer’s position in the industry’s fastest growing area. The company already participates in the commercial strength training arena with products in a broad array under the Nautilus brand and high intensity interval training (HIIT) category under StairMaster.
“This move is a natural addition to our product lines and brands as we continue to execute on our 4-corner strategy”, said Michael Bruno, the company’s owner and CEO. “Functional fitness has been growing for the last few years and we see this as a strategic addition to our line of best in class strength and HIIT brands and equipment. Additionally, our global footprint of manufacturing and distribution creates a unique opportunity for our customers and distributors that others can’t provide.”
Over the next six to twelve months the company will go through an integration including sales, marketing, manufacturing and distribution. Sales will continue in established key accounts while moving to the company’s direct and distribution channels as well as to its global businesses later in the year. Core will continue with representation of the Throwdown brand through a global licensing agreement.
Throwdown LLC, a long-standing innovator in the Martial Arts and fitness categories, has been distributing functional fitness since 2003. Ted Joiner the company’s President said, “We are excited to continue the expansion of Throwdown’s functional products and brand now under the umbrella of Core’s global footprint. We’ll be able to scale up with our great tradition of quality and service aligning nicely with Core’s culture and value creation strategy”. Mr. Joiner and other employees will be part of the integration making the move to Core seamless.
Core will be announcing roll out plans and future development with the Throwdown brand and product line over the next few months.
