CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA.—March 1, 2019—Residents of the greater Charlottesville area can work out and give back this March with ACAC Fitness & Wellness Centers. The health club is partnering with No Kid Hungry to raise money and awareness for hungry children across America and in our local community. Individuals can purchase a 30-day membership for $30 during the month of March and ACAC will donate every dollar to No Kid Hungry.
No Kid Hungry is an annual campaign run by Share Our Strength, a non-profit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty both in the United States and around the world. The campaign's primary objective is to end childhood hunger through school breakfast programs, after school and summer meals, food skills education, research, policy, and advocacy.
This is the fifteenth membership campaign held by ACAC to benefit either a local or national non-profit organization. The idea was originally created in 2009 to celebrate the company's 25th anniversary. Since then, the club's locations in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland have donated nearly $1 million to organizations including the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer's Association, the American Red Cross, and more. ACAC is hopeful that the funds raised from this campaign will surpass the $1 million mark for the organization's charitable donations in the last ten years.
In addition to selling short-term memberships, ACAC is collecting non-perishable food items for the local food bank.
